FIND US AT THE RACE SIDE IN OUR NEW TRAILER & HOSPITALITY UNIT The CJ Riders Fund was established in early 2006 when 14yearold Chris Jones lost his life in a tragic racing accident at Cadwell Park in August 2005. The CJ Riders Fund (CJRF) was set up in Chris' memory to raise money within the motorcycle industry to provide vital medical equipment and improve the safety at the British Motorcycle Races. Chris' parents Pam and Clive and his sister Lucy have not turned their back on the sport Chris loved. In the last two years they have dedicated their time and resources along with the CJRF team and they have now managed to hit a fantastic total of around £200,000 so far (Apr 08). With various events being held throughout the country since the start of the Fund, it has gained the support and help from some of the industries most established companies like Honda UK and also some of the World's best motorcycle riders including World Superbike Champion, James Toseland. We have gained various signed items from the World of Moto GP including Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner, World Superbikes including Carl Fogarty and Troy Corser and the British Superbike Championship including Ryuichi Kiyonari, Leon Haslam, Leon Camier and Chris Walker to name but a few, which we have successfully auctioned off at various CJ events and raised healthy sums of money for this worthy cause. chine provi ew XRay ma ded by the kly diagnos Fund to quic e injuries Read more about Chris The n Thruxton WriteUp It was another successful weekend for the Chris Jones Riders Fund at Thruxton Circuit. The four CJ Promo Girls worked endlessly to draw pennies from passing customers Carly and sold a healthy amount of raffle tickets (the lucky winner wins a Honda 600 in Hannspree colours). The CJ Fund would like to pass on their congratulations to a few people, firstly Cal Crutchlow on his first British Superbike win and Michael Rutter for his two thirds nice to see him back on the podium. A couple of the riders were obviously passing the winter in style as Karl Harris and his wife Jane are expecting their second baby and Shakey and his fiancée Petra are expecting baby number one, congratulations to all. The racing finally got underway at Thruxton and it was just what we were all waiting for. The circuit as always produced some good racing with Cal and Shakey taking the honours in both races. Other wins were gained by Steve Brogan in Supersport and Superstock race, Jon Kirkham in the R1 Cup, Paul Jordan in the 125's and Luke Jones in the Superstock 600 class well done to all of them! Oulton Park is set to be another busy weekend and is usually one of the most popular races during the season falling on May Bank Holiday Monday. The CJ Girls will once again be out in force so if you spot them donate some money to the CJ Riders Fund. Remember all money goes towards buying medical equipment for the BSB Series. The CJ Riders Fund would like to wish all the riders luck and safe racing for this weekend. The Fund would also like to thank all the stands that gave us freebies, posters, stickers and keyrings for our CJ carrier bags at Thruxton, it was a great incentive for the kids to make a donation. The Chris Jones Riders Fund would like to wish Karl Harris, Dennis Hobbs and Adam Jenkinson a very speedy recovery." The full track is 2.8 miles (4.5 km) long, with a selection of shorter circuits also possible. Among many British and foreign drivers it is considered one of the most challenging and thrilling circuits ever constructed. Spectator Guide Due to the nature of the circuit, most spectating spots have a reasonable view of the circuit. One of the best spectating spots can be found at the Knickerbrook entrance to the circuit. Parking is unrestricted. Parking at the top of the hill is recommended as this gives a view of `The Avenue', `Cascades', `Hill Top', `Hizzy's Chicane', `Knickerbrook' and `Clay Hill'. Commentary is also provided at all events, so the action can be easily followed when the racing is out of view. PHOTO GALLERY Brands Hatch Circuit Information Brands Hatch was first used as a dirt track motorcycle circuit on farmland, it hosted 12 runnings of the British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986 and currently holds many British and international racing events. The name of the circuit may derive from the Gaelic Brondehach (bron meaning "wooded slope" and hach meaning "forest entrance"). Spectator Guide Brands Hatch offers two layout configurations: the shorter `Indy' layout (1.198 miles) is located entirely within a natural amphitheatre offering spectators views of almost all of the shorter configuration from wherever they watch. The digital `dogtag' Available from Chris Jones Riders Fund The Thinking Behind UTAG® Motorcyclists are very aware that with the joys of biking come unavoidable risks and that accidents can happen. Some already carry contact information in case of emergency but it is difficult to make this visible and accessible and it can be overlooked. The creator of UTAG® wanted a product that could easily be seen and identified as containing emergency information and could be worn in a visible place. It needed to carry all the information a rider felt was necessary to help in an emergency situation. It had to give every rider the best possible chance of communicating with the emergency services, letting them know who to contact on their behalf and pass on any medical information they wanted to make available. It also needed to be something a rider would want to wear and would be seen as a worthwhile, fashionable accessory. The answer is UTAG®. Suzi Perry Sport & TV Presenter "It's one piece of kit I seriously recommend" Available from Chris Jones Riders Fund What is UTAG®? UTAG® utilises the latest USB technology to give electronic data storage, in a style that mimics a traditional dogtag. Clearly displayed on it are the international medical symbol (the snake and staff) and the letters "ICE" which the emergency services are using to denote "In Case of Emergency". It can be worn as a dogtag, a zip pull or on a key ring. The unique software has been developed to be easy to use and can include emergency phone contacts, photo ID, GP information and medical information (all fields are optional). The lightweight aluminium dogtag design gives it a stylish edge and it comes with an additional blank dogtag to personalise. This book is about the highs and lows of training for the Ironman. This is not a book about how to train for an Ironman, the kit you need or anything that could actually prove to be useful. If there is anything useful in this book then that's purely by accident. Avoid this book if you are looking for some genuine training tips on Ironman there are plenty of books out there for that. This is simply a story about someone (aka fat northerner in the shape of Darren) deciding to do something as stupid as Ironman and what he encounters on the way. Such as the psychotic geese, paperless portaloos, the mind games and the doomsday feeling that no matter how much training you do it's never enough. About The Author Darren Roberts used to be the official Red Bull Fitness Manager and was mentor to Chris Jones. Darren is fat, bald, ugly and lives in the North West of England with his wife Amy and daughter LillyMae where he continues to try to be a triathlete. Chris Jones This website is created in the memory of Christopher Anthony Jones born on Tuesday 13 th November 1990 and sadly passed away on Tuesday 30th August 2005 aged 14 years of age. Christopher was critically injured in a tragic motorbike accident on Monday 29th August 2005 at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire, whilst attempting to begin the BSB Superbike 125cc race. He was air lifted to hospital from the course but later died from his injuries the following day. Christopher was always very active and was never bored He participated in all sports, but in doing so he wanted to learn how to do things properly and the ability and enthusiasum came naturally. His greatest love was motorbikes and this was his "True Love" Christopher was a born natural and proved that to so many people around the world. A World Champion he would have been without a doubt. Christopher died living his dream. His dreams and ambitions were no ordinary 14 year olds, they were something very different. The loss of Christopher will never be forgotten and this website will remember him for what he achieved in such a short life span. He was loved by everybody but no more than by his parents Pam & Clive and his younger sister Lucy. God Bless.
